There are several federal and state laws that may prohibit discrimination against people with disabilities. The federal Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) (42 U.S.C. §§12101 et seq.) prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in employment, in state and local governmental services, in public transportation, and in public accommodations.
